Creatinine clearance is used to assess the rate and efficiency of kidney filtration. Its calculation generally requires a paired timed urine sample e.g. 24hr urine sample, and a blood sample taken during the course of the collection period. Increasingly being replaced by use of eGFR calculation or Cockcroft-Gault calculation of creatinine clearance. |
