Patient Preparation : Please collect one random stool sample. Stool samples should not be taken during menstruation or 3 days before or after, in the case of bleeding caused by constipation, bleeding hemorrhoids, or in the case of rectal administration of certain medicines (such as blood thinning medication or high doses of NSAID’s (e.g. ibuprofen, aspirin)), as this could cause false positive results. No dietary restrictions are necessary. |

Results are reported as positive or negative If a POSITIVE result is obtained with the test, a follow-up with additional diagnostic tests, as soon as possible, is essential. False NEGATIVE results may be obtained since most bleeding occurs intermittently. These tests are designed as a preliminary screen and are not intended to replace other diagnostic procedures such as proctosigmoidoscopy, barium enema or X-ray studies. |
