The Total T3 immunoassay includes the measurement of both protein-bound and free tri-iodothyronine (T3). Measurement of T3 is useful in the investigation of thyroid disease, particularly where other measurements e.g. Free T4 and Total T4, may be of limited use e.g. in T3 toxicosis, a patient on treatment with T3. |
