Avoid Venous stasis. Haemolysis may invalidate Separate from clot or cells as soon as possible. Calcium decreases with prolonged exposure to clot. Sera from patients receiving EDTA treatment for Hypercalcaemia unsuitable for analysis. EDTA anti-coagulant must be avoided. EDTA contaminated samples will not be reported for Calcium. Refer to order of draw to prevent contamination. |
