See individual tests for interferences and recommendations Separate from clot or cells as soon as possible. Calcium decreases with prolonged exposure to clot. Sera from patients receiving EDTA treatment for Hypercalcaemia unsuitable for analysis. Chelating anti-coagulants such as EDTA, fluoride or oxalate must be avoided. EDTA contaminated samples will not be reported for Calcium, Magnesium and Potassium. Refer to order of draw to prevent contamination. |
