ALP has various isoforms which may be separated based on their different physical or chemical properties. They are widely distributed throughout the body. ALP isoenzyme testing is rarely required but may be useful in determining the cause of an isolated elevation of ALP. May be used to differentiate between bone, liver, intestinal or placental ALP. |
