Notes |
Limitations of this assay: Heterophilic antibodies in human serum can react with reagent immunoglobulins, interfering with in vitro immunoassays. Patients routinely exposed to animals or to animal serum products can be prone to this. Be aware that patient vitamin supplementation or therapy with high-dose biotin (>5mg/day) within 48 hours of sampling may interfere with laboratory testing for cyclosporine drug levels. In cases of clinically discordant results, you may wish to exclude possible biotin interference by enquiring about the use of supplements. Please refer to memo in related links section below for full details of potential interference. Please contact the laboratory 01 4162012 for further information regarding limitations of this assay.
