Notes |
Both Legionella and S pneumonia assays performed simultaneously so please order as a pair. The Immuview S.pneumoniae and L.pneumophila Urinary Antigen Test is a lateral flow test also known as a lateral flow immunochromatographic assay. It is intended for diagnosis of Streptococcus pneumonia and Legionella pneumophila infections by detection of urinary antigens for either or both S. pneumoniae and L. pneumophila serogroup 1. It is intended, in conjunction with culture, to aid in the diagnosis of both pneumococcal pneumonia and Legionella pneumophila pneumonia. ImmuView® S. pneumoniae and L. pneumophila Urinary Antigen Test has not been validated to use with urine samples from children under 8 years. A negative result does not exclude an S. pneumonia infection. The result of this test as well as culture, serology or other antigen detection methods should be used in conjunction with clinical findings to make an accurate diagnosis. S. pneumoniae vaccine may cause false positive results in urine in ImmuView® S. pneumoniae and L. pneumophila. S. pneumoniae vaccine may cause false positive results in urine in ImmuView® S. pneumoniae and L. pneumophila Urinary Antigen test up to 6 days after vaccination. Administration of antibiotics might influence the results for S. pneumonia False positive S pneumonia results may result from urines with a pH>9.
High levels of water based lubricants may result in false positive or indeterminant L pneumophilia results.
Send sample to the laboratory without delay. Sample should be refrigerated if not transported immediately |
