*EBV PCR is not routinely indicated in an immunocompetent patient. EBV serology is alternatively available. Please discuss with Dr. Brendan Crowley, Consultant Microbiologist, before ordering (01 4162968 bcrowley@stjames.ie) The detection and quantification of EBV DNA uses the Argene EBV R-gene assay. The Argene EBV R-gene assay is standardized against the WHO International Standard for EBV DNA for Nucleic Acid Technology (NAT) Assays Testing ( NIBSC 09/260) and titre results are reported in International Units ( IU/mL) Send sample to the laboratory without delay. Sample should be refrigerated if not transported immediately. |
