Specimens must be separated within 4 hours of collection. Transport blood samples as soon as possible in sealed plastic bags marked 'Hep B DNA. URGENT'. If delivery occurs out of hours please inform medical scientist on-call (Bleep#194). *Hepatitis B DNA may only be requested by a consultant hepatologist or by prior arrangement with Dr Brendan Crowley, bcrowley@stjames.ie Tel: 01 4162968. The detection and quantification of Hepatitis B virus DNA uses the Hologic Aptima HBV Quant assay.The results are reported in International Units (IU/mL). |
