Serum samples are analysed using the Syphilis TP kit on the Abbott Alinity i immunoanalyser. Further testing will be performed if required, as per laboratory testing algorithm. Tests available include: RPR (ASI), TPHA (Fortress Diagnostics), Captia NMT Syphilis IgM (Trinity Biotech) and INNO-LIA Syphilis Score (Fujirebio). Blood samples may be stored on the clot or red blood cells for up to 7 days at 2-8°C prior to being tested. Specimens for Syphilis TP cannot be assayed after this time. Please ensure prompt transport of specimens. CSF samples may be processed for RPR and TPHA if clinically indicated. Please ensure to also send an accompanying blood sample requesting syphilis serology. Send sample to the laboratory without delay. Sample should be refrigerated if not transported immediately.
