Specimens must be separated within 6 hours. Please mark as urgent and package separately and bring to the attention of the medical scientist on-call if delivery is out of hours. If HCV genotype testing is required, then please send a second clotted blood sample (red-topped). HCV genotype assays are performed weekly and have a turnaround time of 10 days. Specimens sent to National Virus Reference Laboratory, University College Dublin, Belfield, Dublin 4 The detection and quantification of Hepatitis C virus RNA uses the Hologic Aptima HCV Quant Dx Assay. The results are reported in International Units (IU/mL). |
