AFST is performed on yeasts grown from sterile sites on samples from SJH patients and from referred cultures from external hospitals. AFST is performed using TREK Diagnostics Sensititre™ YeastOne™ plates; these are 96 well Microbroth dilution plates yielding MICs for the following antifungal drugs: Anidulafungin, Micafungin, 5-Flucytosine, Posaconazole, Itraconazole, Voriconazole, Fluconazole and Amphotericin using CLSI interpretative criteria. Please note- these plates are to be used for Candida species only (non-Candida yeasts and specifically C. tropicalis must be referred for AFST to reference laboratory in the UK |
