When obtaining specimens from patients with suspected conjunctivitis or keratitis swab conjunctiva, and if using Dryswab (fine tip peel pouch), break off swab into viral transport medium and recap bottle. Please contact ophthalmologist for advice on further sampling. Specimens sent to the National Virus Reference Laboratory, University College Dublin, Belfield, Dublin 4. |
